- في خطوة تعكس تنامي الحضور الدبلوماسي لسلطنة عُمان على الساحة الدولية، استقبل معالي السيد بدر بن حمد البوسعيدي وزير الخارجية، في العاصمة مسقط، معالي أنيتا أناند وزيرة خارجية كندا، وذلك في أول زيارة رسمية لوزير خارجية كندي إلى سلطنة عُمان منذ أكثر من عشر سنوات، في زيارة تحمل أبعادًا سياسية واقتصادية مهمة، وتؤكد عمق العلاقات الثنائية الممتدة بين البلدين على مدار نصف قرن. اللقاء الذي جمع الجانبين جاء في إطار الحرص المشترك على تعزيز التعاون الثنائي وتوسيع مجالات الشراكة، حيث أكد الوزيران التزام البلدين بدعم الأمن والاستقرار الإقليمي، وتعزيز الحوار السياسي والتعاون الاقتصادي خلال المرحلة المقبلة. كما وقّع الجانبان مذكرة تفاهم خاصة بالمشاورات السياسية، تهدف إلى إرساء حوار دبلوماسي منتظم بين سلطنة عُمان وكندا، بما يعكس الرغبة المتبادلة في تطوير العلاقات إلى مستويات أكثر شمولًا واستدامة. وشهدت المباحثات الاتفاق على توسيع مجالات التعاون في عدد من القطاعات الحيوية، شملت التجارة والطاقة والمعادن الحيوية والتعليم العالي والسياحة، إضافة إلى تعزيز الروابط الثقافية والإنسانية بين الشعبين الصديقين. وأشار الوزيران إلى أن حجم التبادل التجاري بين البلدين بلغ نحو 222 مليون دولار كندي خلال عام 2025، مؤكدين وجود فرص واعدة لرفع مستوى التبادل التجاري والاستثمارات المشتركة في السنوات المقبلة. كما تناول اللقاء تطورات الأوضاع الإقليمية والدولية، حيث تبادل الوزيران وجهات النظر بشأن النزاعات والتوترات التي تشهدها المنطقة، وشددا على أهمية حماية المدنيين ودعم جهود التهدئة وخفض التصعيد، إلى جانب التأكيد على ضمان حرية الملاحة في مضيق هرمز باعتباره أحد أهم الممرات البحرية الاستراتيجية في العالم. وفي هذا السياق، أعربت وزيرة الخارجية الكندية عن تقدير بلادها للدور العُماني البارز في دعم جهود الوساطة والدبلوماسية الإقليمية، مشيدة بالنهج المتوازن الذي تنتهجه سلطنة عُمان في تعزيز الحوار وبناء جسور التفاهم بين مختلف الأطراف. كما أكد الوزيران التزامهما المشترك بمبادئ القانون الدولي، واحترام سيادة الدول ووحدة أراضيها، باعتبارها ركائز أساسية لتحقيق الأمن والاستقرار العالمي. وتأتي هذه الزيارة في وقت تشهد فيه سلطنة عُمان حضورًا متناميًا في الملفات السياسية والاقتصادية الإقليمية والدولية، مستفيدة من سياستها الخارجية القائمة على التوازن والانفتاح وتعزيز الشراكات الدولية. كما تعكس اهتمام كندا بتوسيع حضورها السياسي والاقتصادي في منطقة الخليج العربي، وفتح آفاق جديدة للتعاون مع السلطنة في قطاعات استراتيجية واعدة. وفي ختام الزيارة، أعربت الوزيرة الكندية عن بالغ شكرها وتقديرها لحكومة سلطنة عُمان على حفاوة الاستقبال وكرم الضيافة، مؤكدة حرص كندا على بناء شراكة مستقبلية متينة مع سلطنة عُمان تقوم على التعاون المشترك والمصالح المتبادلة.
- Oman and Canada Open a New Chapter of Strategic Partnership Muscat – Sultanate of Oman In a move reflecting the growing diplomatic presence of the Sultanate of Oman on the international stage, His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi welcomed the Honourable Anita Anand in Muscat during the first official visit by a Canadian foreign minister to Oman in more than a decade — a visit carrying significant political and economic dimensions and reaffirming the depth of bilateral relations that have spanned over fifty years. The meeting underscored the mutual commitment of both nations to strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding strategic partnerships across multiple sectors. The two ministers reaffirmed their shared dedication to supporting regional peace and stability while enhancing political dialogue and economic collaboration in the years ahead. During the visit, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations, establishing a formal framework for regular bilateral dialogue between Oman and Canada. The agreement reflects both countries’ determination to elevate relations to a more comprehensive and sustainable level. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in several key sectors, including trade, energy, critical minerals, higher education, tourism, and people-to-people ties. The ministers noted that bilateral trade between the two countries reached CAD 222 million in 2025, highlighting strong potential for further growth in trade and investment opportunities. Regional and international developments were also addressed during the talks, with both ministers exchanging views on ongoing regional conflicts and emphasizing the importance of protecting civilian lives, supporting de-escalation efforts, and safeguarding freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most strategically significant maritime routes. In this context, Minister Anand expressed Canada’s appreciation for Oman’s longstanding role in regional diplomacy and mediation efforts, praising the Sultanate’s balanced foreign policy approach that promotes dialogue and mutual understanding among nations. Both ministers also reaffirmed their shared commitment to international law, including respect for state sovereignty and territorial integrity as essential pillars for global peace and stability. The visit comes at a time when Oman continues to strengthen its political and economic influence regionally and internationally through a foreign policy based on balance, openness, and constructive engagement. It also reflects Canada’s growing interest in expanding its political and economic presence in the Gulf region and building stronger partnerships with Oman in promising strategic sectors. At the conclusion of the visit, Minister Anand expressed her sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, reaffirming Canada’s commitment to building a substantive and future-oriented partnership with Oman.
